Movement restricted in Borno, Yobe
Security forces yesterday announced the restriction of vehicular movement in Borno and Yobe States as part of efforts to ensure public safety during the Eidel-Kabir celebration.
In Borno, the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army announced restriction of movement with vehicles, bicycles, horses, camels and donkeys within Maiduguri and environs from 5:00pm yesterday through the Sallah period.
Army spokesman, Col. Tukur Gusau, said in a statement in Maiduguri that all vehicular movements in and out of Maiduguri town would also be restricted within the period.
He said the decision was in line with the resolve of the military and other security agencies in ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’ to ensure that people of the state enjoy a hitch-free sallah.
Similarly, the police in Yobe State also restricted vehicular movement in and out of the state. A statement from the command spokesman, ASP Toyin Gbadegesin, said there would be no movement of vehicles in and out of the state from all directions or gateways between 6:00pm yesterday and 2:00pm today.
