Kano police kill 2 armed robbers

The Kano state police command said its men have killed two notorious armed robbers that have been terrorizin­g people of the state for long.

Parading the corpse before newsmen on Friday at the police headquarte­rs, the command public relations officer, ASP Magaji Musa Majia said the armed robbers were killed during a gun battle with the men of the police command.

He said the armed robbers who are indigene of the state, used Kaduna state as their hideout where they get cover after every operation in Kano, thereby evading police arrest for long.

“Yesterday we got a tip that the armed robbers were lodging in a hotel behind Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, when our men stormed the place one of them, who is called Dominic opened fire on police vehicle and managed to escape.

“But our men overpower the rest and succeeded in killing the gang leader, one Sagir Musa Garkuwa aka ‘Kafi Kudi’ and one other,” Majia said.

The police spokesman further said, police recover one pistol, a fake Identity card bearing the name of Sagir Garkuwa in which he claimed to be staff of National Assembly, charm, BMW saloon car belonging to the leader, and a Mercedes Benz with an antitracki­ng device inside, which police suspected to be stolen by the armed robbers.

Also, about 20 people who deal in selling hard drugs were also paraded by the command, they were arrested during a raid at Rijiyar Zaki quarters and other areas of Kano metropolis, ASP Majia said.
