He said casual workers are engaged in the exercise which involves loading of the three tippers available to evacuate the waste for onward transportation to dump sites at the outskirts of Abaji along Toto road.

At Kwali area council, Okoh Abani, a waste management officer at STDD said the urban waste management advocacy is on-going and called on residents to safeguard their health by avoiding the dumping of waste in drainages in order to have a healthy environment.

He called on the area council officials to supervise and monitor the drains and called on the community to partner with them in order to have clear drains that will ensure free flow of water.

In Gwagwalada, the STDD Environment Officer in charge, Patrick Akpan, lamented that residents are taking advantage of the exercise to dump their sewer into drainages in front of their houses and called on them to desist from such acts.

Akpan also called on residents to imbibe the culture of personal hygiene and package their waste properly and place them in front of their houses so that it can be evacuated properly.
