Man crushed few days to wedding
A29-year-old man was crushed by a speeding vehicle along BwariDutse expressway some few days to his wedding ceremony.
City News gathered from a family source that the deceased, Mishal Iliya, a resident of Zone 7, Dutse, Bwari Area Council of the (FCT) was on his way to discuss his wedding plans with his uncle who stays in Usuman Dam when he met his untimely death.
The source said the deceased, who was riding a motorcycle, was close to his destination when the driver of the Omega Opel car coming from the opposite direction, suddenly lost control and swerved off his lane.
“The driver first rammed into a Honda Rav 4 car directly in front of the man before finally knocking him down, killing him instantly,” the source added.
According to the source, the driver of the Opel car came out unhurt, while that of the jeep sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
The deceased was taken to the Kubwa General hospital where he was certified dead and the corpse deposited at the mortuary.
In a related case, a motorist sustained deep cuts on the head after being cut with machete by an angry mob while escaping from an accident that nearly led to the death of three persons along Phase 2, Site 1 road, Kubwa, in the same area council.
The victim, City News gathered, had knocked down a commercial motorcyclist carrying two passengers, leaving both passengers with varying degrees of injuries, and was running for his dear life when he was descended upon by the mob.
City News, however, gathered that he was later rescued by the police who arrived the scene and rushed him to the Kubwa General hospital.
When contacted, the Dutse Divisional Police Officer, SP Hajia Aisha Yusuf, confirmed the death of the groom-to-be, saying the driver of the vehicle was undergoing interrogation at the station.
Also reacting, the Kubwa Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent Nurrudeen Sabo, said the motorist who escaped lynching, is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
