4 suspected kidnappers nabbed in Zamfara
The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested four suspected kidnappers in Moriki town, Zurmi Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sanusi Amiru, were intercepted following a tip-off.
He said the suspects were arrested while they were taking their victim, Haladu Kaikai, to an undisclosed location in a Golf vehicle.
He said two pistols, one axe and a cutlass were recovered from them.
One of the suspects, Ibrahim Ma’ aiki, who is a staff of the Primary Health Care Department of the Maradun Local Government Area told Daily Trust that they were commissioned by one Sardaunan Kaya, Alhaji Abdullahi Maikano, to kidnap the victim and that they were on their way out of the town when they were arrested by the police.
Speaking to Daily Trust, the victim said the suspects tied up his legs, hands, blindfolded him, wrapped him in a cloth and bundled him into the boot of a car.
The Police Public Relations Officer said the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation into the matter is completed.
In a related development, the command said it smashed a notorious armed robbery gang along Sokoto Gusau road and that one of the suspected robbers was shot dead in a shoot-out with the police.
