Masari appoints former FISON President SA agric
Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State has appointed the immediate past President of the Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON), Dr. Abbah Yakubu Abdullah, as his Special Adviser on agriculture.
Speaking to our reporter shortly after he was sworn-in last week in Katsina, Dr. Abdullah expressed gratitude to the governor for the confidence reposed in him and said he will put in his best to ensure that the fortunes of agriculture in the state witness a great turn around in this era of change.
“Katsina State has abundant agricultural and human resources that need to be fully harnessed to bring back the glory of agriculture. We have made efforts in the past and will continue to do more in order to make agriculture work properly for the benefit of all stakeholders in the state,” he said.
He assured that enabling environment will be created by the present administration in the state to assist farmers and others in boosting agricultural production, processing and marketing, so as to generate employment and create wealth especially for women and youths.
Before his new appointment as SA agriculture, Dr. Abdullah has served in various agriculture committees at the federal and state government levels. He has also consulted for various organizations including the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, World Bank and Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).
