Man kills friend at Dutse drinking spot
A 23-year-old man was reported dead after he was stabbed with a bottle by a friend at a beer parlor in Zone 3 area of Dutsen Alhaji, Bwari Area Council of the FCT.
The deceased, a security guard, City News learnt, had gone to drink at the drinking spot that fateful day where he met the suspect, who was already there with his brother.
The source said trouble started when a misunderstanding arose between them in the course of discussion.
“The argument became hot and later resulted to a fight and it was in the course of fighting that the suspect suddenly took a bottle of the hot drink they were taking together, broke it, and stabbed his friend in the throat.
City News however gathered that the victim was immediately rushed to the Kubwa General hospital where he later died, haven bled profusely from the stab wound.
The source further revealed that the suspect, who took to his heels as soon as he committed the act, was later arrested by the police after thorough search.
When contacted, the Dutse Divisional Police Officer, SP Hajia Aisha Yusuf, confirmed the incident, saying the corpse had been deposited at the hospital morgue.
She said the case had been transferred to the homicide section of the Command Headquarters.
In another case, a motorcyclist narrowly escaped death after being stabbed by two suspected motorcycle snatchers within the same area.
The victim, Akilu Haruna, had carried two passengers from Byazhin axis to Phase 2, Site 2 area, not knowing that they were robbers.
The source said one of the suspects stabbed him on the head from behind before they dispossessed him of his motorcycle.
City News however learnt that one of the suspects was later arrested by the police who gave them a hot chase, following a tip-off, while his colleague escaped.
Confirming the incident, the Kubwa Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent Nurrudeen Sabo, said the motorcycle was recovered from the suspect, adding that efforts are ongoing to arrest the other suspect.
