Fall, Oyedeji, say D’Tigers will excel at Rio Olympics

Nigeria’s senior male national basketball team captain Olumide Oyedeji and NBA Vice President Africa, Amadou Fall have expressed confidence in the ability of the Nigerian team to excel at next year’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Speaking at the end of the Power Forward Season 2 in Abuja, Oyedeji, who led the Nigerian team to the 205 Afrobasket triumph last month, said he was sure D’Tigers would surpass their maiden outing at the quadrennia­l sports event in London 2010.

According to him, the team will re-enact its performanc­e at the 2015 Afrobasket to ensure that Nigeria surpass her performanc­e at London 2010 Olympic Games.

“If you have the best coach and players and there is no team work you are bound to fail, so at Afrobasket last month we came together and that is why we were champions. So in Rio, we are go into reenact that to ensure that Nigeria surpass he outing in London 2010 Olympic Games,” Oyedeji said.

On his part, Amadou Gallo Fall, said he always believes that any time Nigeria put her act together in terms of having the right people to manage her sports sector, the country would be a force to reckon with in global sports.

“I always believe that if Nigeria put he acts together in terms of having the right personnel to to manage her spots, the country’s sports will be great because there are talents there. So, I am not surprised that the national basketball team won Afrobasket 2015,” Fall said.

He added that with the resounding victory at the 201 Afrobasket last month, he was optimistic that D’Tigers will be a good representa­tive for African continent at the 016 Olympic Games to be held I Rio de Janeiro.
