Houseboy steals $.1m from master’s bedroom

The Kano Police Command has arrested one Munkaila Ibrahim for allegedly stealing $100, 000 (N22million) from his employer’s bedroom.

Parading the suspect, the police commission­er, Muhammad Musa Katsina, said the suspect, aged 37, allegedly connived with his teacher to steal the money. He said the house-boy had access to all the keys in the house, including the one for the master’s bedroom.

“When he found the money in the master’s bedroom, he informed his teacher who advised him to steal it. Sayyadi Hassan Muhammad of Unguwa Uku Qtrs Kano, a self acclaimed Malam induced the domestic servant, Munkaila Ibrahim to steal $ 100,000, (N22 million) from his employer. After that, the Malam gave the sum of N6 million to the house-boy and took the remaining balance,” he said.

The commission­er said police were able to recover some items from the Malam and that they include a Honda Civic car valued at N850, 000, a tricycle valued N430, 000, a Mercedes Benz valued at N1.6 million, a shop rented at Kantin Kwari Market at the cost of N1.5 million, textile materials valued at N1.6 million and N432,000 cash. Also recovered were white clothes and papers with Arabic inscriptio­ns.

Daily Trust gathered that from the houseboy, the police got a plot of land at Hotoro area valued N2.1 million, Golf vehicle valued at N550,000, motorcycle valued at N135, 000 and a refrigerat­or. Also recovered were; a television set, decoder and gas cooker.

In a related developmen­t, a team of policemen from Anti Daba and detectives from Miscellane­ous Section State Criminal Investigat­ion and Intelligen­ce Department Kano raided a house at No. 1131 Isa Dutse road Bompai, and recovered 33 cartons of Pakaline with codeine cough syrup.

The suspect, Austin Onwukaike, 43, who hails from Abia State was arrested by the detectives . During interrogat­ion, the suspect confessed that he has been selling drugs to youths in the state.
