CITY NEWS Armed robbers attack Kubwa community
Armed robbers numbering about eight last Saturday attacked Byhazin village in Kubwa and robbed some residents.
One of the victims told our reporter that the armed bandits entered his house and requested that he gave them money and that when he told them he had no money, they brutalised him and tied him up.
He said his neighbour contacted the police but that they arrived when the robbers had left the scene, adding that the armed robbers came with high calibre weapons.
A police source told City News that incidences of robbery attacks and cultism in Byhazin have increased and that the FCT police were not doing enough to prevent crime in the area.
The source said before the recent robbery attack, cultists stormed Byhazin Across and raped a plantain seller (names withheld), who was coming back from the market that evening.
“She travelled to Zuba and was coming back that evening when she was attacked by the cultists, she was raped and dumped on the road until someone discovered her and raised alarm. There was blood all over her body and as I speak with you now, she is still in the hospital,” the source said.
When contacted, the Kubwa Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent Nurudeen Sabo, confirmed the attacks and stated that the cultists terrorizing Byhazin Across have been arrested and would be charged to court soon.
He said they were arrested while carrying out an initiation ceremony around 10-11pm.
“Immediately we got the distress call, we stormed the area and were able to arrest four cultists with machetes while others escaped. We will charge them to court soon.
“This is the reason why I normally have interactive meetings with residents to discuss crime preventive strategies especially in the area of passing useful information to us so as to prevent criminal activities from happening, he said.”
