Competition commission underway – Dogara
Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara has said that a bill seeking to establish a competition commission was being considered by the lower chamber.
Speaking during a visit by a team of experts on Enhancing Nigerian Advocacy for a Better Business Environment (ENABLE), a United Kingdom sponsored project, Dogara said he was the one personally sponsoring the bill.
He said the issue of establishing a competition commission has been in the National Assembly since the 4th Assembly, saying it has become necessary to pass the bill because it is only through competition that innovation and invention would be achieved.
If established, he said, the commission would to promote and maintain fair, efficient and competitive markets in the Nigerian economy.

team leader, Mr Kevin Conroy said the United Kingdom sees private sector growth as the key to development and they are in Nigeria for ensuring that capacity building in the private sector through government enablement and intervention.
