Abubakar presents N102bn budget to Assembly
Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has presented the N102 billion reviewed budget to the state House of Assembly.
The budget is a downward review of the N127.89 billion earlier presented to the Assembly by the immediate past governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda.
The governor argued that most of the provisions made in the 2015 budget by the past administration do not conform with the priorities of his administration and the APC manifesto.
“This necessitated
a need to set the machinery in motion to review 2015 budget, reflecting economic realities as well as the priority areas of this administration in line with the party manifesto,” he said.
Governor Abubakar said out of the amount, N63 billion was for recurrent expenditure while N39 billion was for capital expenditure.
He appealed for cooperation from members of the House of Assembly to enable him carry out his duties and to justify the mandate given to him by the people of Bauchi State.
“I am therefore soliciting the cooperation of this House in carrying out a reform in all the sectors. The journey will not be an easy one, so it is imperative for all hands to be on deck”, he said.
Responding, the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Kawuwa Shehu Damina, commended the governor for his commitment to developing the state.
