Students dilemma at Benue State University Makurdi

-

Activities of the authorities at Benue State University should be looked into by the concerned bodies (Federal Ministry of Education, EFCC, ICPC etc). else how can somebody who cheats tell the other person to stop cheating?

Due to the unemployment dilemma in our country (Nigeria), the Federal Government thought that it would be wise to introduce Entrepreneurship in our universities as a course so that students would be taught or rather, trained on how to be self reliant after graduating from university. The federal government has provided enough funds to kick start the entrepreneurship programme and sustain it in order to achieve the purpose that necessitated the establishment of this programme.

However, the authorities of the university in question hide this fact from students and have imposed a fee of N2000 per each student as a registration fee before he or she would be allowed to study the course. Is that not cheating? Is that not corruption? Is that not a crime? Since the introduction of this entrepreneurship into our universities, students at Benue State University have been paying for the course while other tertiary institutions like Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Kogi State University, Nasarawa State University and so on, have not been paying for it.

Therefore, a side Benue State University, if there is any other institution in the country that is collecting money from students in the name of entrepreneurship study, such an institution is not being fair but corrupt and the management or the authorities of such universities should be dissolved for lack of integrity, credibility and transparency.

The authorities at Benue State University are always warning students, not to cheat in their examinations but here they are cheating students in the entrepreneurship programme that is supposed to be free but they collect money for it. What a disgraceful habit of the highest order.

Let me at this point call on the new Vice Chancellor, Benue State University, Professor Kembe, as a matter of urgency and necessity, to quickly put a halt to the policy of paying N2000 for the entrepreneurship programme and look for a way of compensating students for fleecing them.
