Man proposes at supermarket; couple get arrested same day for ‘shoplifting’

-

A man romantically proposed to his girlfriend over the loudspeakers in Walmart – but the very same evening both were arrested, accused of stealing sex toys.

William Cornelius Junior, aged 25, asked for Sheri Moore’s hand in front of other shoppers in Bay City, Michigan, on December 30, police said.

But later that night, the couple were accused of stealing goods including an edible thong and a sex toy, the Bay City Times reported.

Cornelius reportedly told police he stole the items for his fiancé.

Officers checking out the story confirmed he had bought an engagement ring for $29.62 at Walmart, CBS reported.

He then read out his proposal through the supermarket loudspeaker, asking for his 20-year-old girlfriend’s hand in marriage.

CCTV shows other shoppers applauding after Sheri said yes.

High on the excitement they then went to a local mall, where they were suspected of shoplifting.

Sheri denied taking anything but police say she had a silver necklace and gold earrings allegedly taken from Walmart.

Cornelius was later found asleep in the food court, according to the paper. When officers searched him they allegedly recovered an edible thong, knickers, a sex toy and ‘sex candy’, worth around $80.

Sheri reportedly denied shoplifting and blamed her fiance.

Cornelius was with shoplifting.
