Dambazau charges new police mgt team on security
The Minister of Interior, retired Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, has charged the new management team of the Nigeria Police to step up its mandate as the primary government agency in charge of security in the country.
The Minister spoke yesterday at the decoration of the newly promoted Deputy Inspector Generals of Police (DIGs) and the Force Secretary (FORSEC), who make up the police management team, at the Police Headquarters in Abuja.
Dambazau told members of the team to rededicate themselves to the three cardinal agenda of the government which he listed as enhancing security, revitalizing the economy and tackling corruption.
On security, he reminded the police officers of their task in providing security in the post-conflict building efforts in the Northeast. He pointed out the need to work towards curbing violent intercommunal clashes and checking the activities of militants in the Niger Delta region.
Earlier in his address, the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Idris Ibrahim, declared that his mission was to bring back the era of fighting corruption at all levels of society with the deployment of police specialist ‘X’ squads to dismantle corruption in the public service.
The DIGs decorated with their new ranks include: AIG Shuaibu Gambo appointed DIG, Department of Finance and Administration, CP Joshak Habila as DIG Department of Operations, CP Maigari Abbati Dikko as DIG Department of Logistics and Supply, CP Hyacinth Dagala appointed DIG Department of Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department and CP Emmanuel Inyang as DIG Department of Training and Development.
Others are: CP Folusho Adebanjo as DIG Department of ICT and CP Abdul Bube appointed AIG, Force Secretary.
