Pandagi community wants drugs at new clinic

- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

Residents of Pandagi community in Abaji Area Council commend the chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, for commissioning new healthcare centre, urging him to equip the centre with drugs.

A resident of the community, Musa Ndako, who spoke with the City News, weekend, said that the council authorities should provide drugs at the health centre to save residents stress of traveling to Abaji to buy drugs.

He said that residents of the community used to travel to Abaji to seek for medication due to lack of clinic in the area, adding that pregnant women also travelled to Abaji General Hospital to be delivered of their baby.

He said that the building health centre at the community brought relief not only to the community, but also surrounding villages, whose residents would come for medical treatment.

“The major concern now is that the health centre needs to be equipped with drugs,” he said. “We are not saying government should supply the drugs free, but patients should be able to have access to drugs at a subsidised rate.”

Another resident, Ismaila Umaru, said there was the need for the council to provide doctors to attend patients.

He appealed to the council to provide security for the health centre to protect equipment.

Reacting, the chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, said that the council would liaise with management of the general hospital in the area to secure service of doctor to attend to patients at the clinic.
