Driver dies as bus collides with truck

Adriver was trapped to death when his bus collided with a truck in the early hours of yesterday at Sheda village, located on Abuja - Lokoja road.

Our reporter learnt that three other passengers in the bus sustained injuries in the accident and were evacuated to the Kwali General Hospital by the rescue team of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

A witness said that the incident happened at about 3:23am when the Peugeot J5 bus, with registration number KJN 842, conveying tomatoes collided with the truck wit no registration number.

He said that the bus, which was allegedly coming on top speed from Gwagwalada road heading to Lokoja, overtook another vehicle and collided with the truck.

He said that the driver, who was trapped between his steering wheel and seat, died before men of the (FRSC) arrived the scene.

He said that the driver’s corpse was removed using an extricating machine and taken to the morgue.

When contacted, the Yangoji Unit Command Head of Operation of the FRSC, A. C. Amadi, confirmed the incident, attributing it to dangerous overtaking.

He said that the driver’s corpse has been deposited at Kwali General Hospital morgue, while the three injured victims were also receiving treatment at the same hospital.
