Indimi Foundation gives scholarships to Borno students
The federal government has given go ahead for e-Learning programme of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). Director of Media and Publicity, Malam Ibrahim Sheme, said the government's endorsement which was communicated to NOUN in a statement issued by the National Universities Commission (NUC) showed that three other universities running a similar programme also benefited from the approval.
They included University of Uyo, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and University of Maiduguri. The statement said that e-learning was one of the avenues that the Commission is exploring to increase access to university education without compromising quality. The Mohammed Foundation has scholarships to of Borno State to undergraduate studies.
A statement issued by the Foundation said recipients were objectively selected for the 2016-2017 bursary awards. They included Alhaji Maina Indimi offered natives pursue Bukar, Ibrahim Abubakar Abubakar, Muhammad Ibrahim, Ahmad Yaqub Danah, Ameen Ali Ahmad, Shadi Bashir Adam Shadi, Ahmad Hassan Goni, Usman Muhammad Umar, and Yahya Ali.
The annual scholarship awards started in 2015/2016 and have already facilitated the admission of 5 students from Borno State into the International University of Africa on full scholarships. The scholarship covers all academic fees, accommodation as well as sustenance for all recipients and is awarded to students in financial need.
The scholarship was given by Alhaji Mohammed Indimi through the Mohammed Indimi Foundation in conjunction with Oriental Energy Resources. Dr. Indimi was the Chairman and Founder of Oriental Energy Resources as well as a Board member of the International University of Africa. The International University of Africa is located in Sudan and has faculties of Education and Humanities, Shari’ah and Islamic Studies, Pure and Applied Sciences, Engineering and medicine.
