Ebi eager to face Barcelona in Champions League
Super Falcons defender Onome Ebi said she’s eagerly awaiting next month’s UEFA Women’s Champions League clashes between her Belarusian club FC Minsk and title favourites FC Barcelona Ladies.
The Nigerian player’s side will slug it out with the Spainish outfit in the knock out stages of the female version of the highly celebrated European continental club championship.
“Getting set for Barcelona ladies and can’t wait for the encounter.” The ex Düvenciler Lisesispor of Turkey player wrote on twitter.
The first leg will be played at the Minsk superstadion on October 5 with the return leg a week later at the Miniestadi in Barcelona.
The Belarus based outfit also has Nigeria’s Halimatu Ayinde, Gift Otuwe, Aminat Yakubu and Emueje Ogbayegbevkha in their ranks. Minsk came out top in the group stages and need to overcome the Spanish giants to make the round of 16.
Meanwhile, Chinwe Ihezuo and Charity Adule’s Biik Kazygurt of Kazakhstan will tackle Italy’s Verona for a chance to go through in a similar tie next month.
Ebere Ngozi’s PSG of France must subdue LSK Kvinner of Norway to advance, while Chichi Igho’s Fortuna Horing of Denmark will battle Athletic Club of Spain to reach the last 16.
The round of 32 matches will be played over two legs with the first scheduled for the midweek of October 5/6 and second leg to hold a week later.
