Chairman of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company PLC (nahco aviance), Mallam Suleiman Yahyah, has resigned from the board due to health challenges.

Following his resignation, the Vice Chairman, Mr. Denis Hasdenteufel, would take over the leadership of the Board in an acting capacity and will preside over all meetings of the Board pending the approval of regulators and further announcements from stakeholders.

Yahyah who was appointed a Director of the Company in November 2006 became the Chairman in July 2012.

The former Chairman, according to NAHCo in a statement, was credited with the strategic reorganization of the Company to its current modern status.

During his tenure, the Company witnessed unprecedented turnover which grew from 6.92 Billion when he took over leadership of the board to 8.5Billion at Year End 2015. This is in addition to increase in number of employees from about 1,100 to an all - time high of 1,980.

Meanwhile, the company has been issued with fresh ISAGO Certificate by the International Air Transport Association(IATA).

The IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) programme is a safety audit for ground handling companies.

The re-certification which runs till June 12, 2018 replaces the one which expires in June this year earlier awarded to the company, a statement by NAHCO’s Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr. Tayo Ajakaye said.
