We have no funds to fix match – FC Taraba Chairman

-

Chairman of FC Taraba of Jalingo, Hon. Ishaya Gomni has taken a swipe at officials of Wikki Tourist Feeder who alleged that they fixed their last league match against Kwara United, saying they do not have such funds to spend on match fixing.

Hon. Ishaya noted that the allegation was unfounded and it is borne out of total mischief.

According to him, the NNL officials were in the know of the predicament on their way to Ilorin to honour the match.

He also stressed that all the match officials were in the know of their situation and it was generally agreed during the prematch meeting that the match be shifted to 11am on Sunday, maintaining that their vehicle broke down on the road and had to hire a different bus to convey the players to Ilorin.

“I want to state that all through this period we were communicating with all necessary parties that have a part to play in the match which is what you do in such situation because of our situation on the road. Thank God we had an advance party that attended the prematch meeting and it was agreed then that the match be shifted to 11am the next day, while arrival time to the stadium was for 10am.

“I wonder where the issue of match fixing is coming from. I expect Wiki Tourist to exhibit some level of sportsmanship and stop making false allegations,” he said.
