Unilorin turns out 67 first-class graduates
The Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali yesterday disclosed that the university will be turning out 67 students who graduated with first-class grade out of the 8,038 graduands for the 2016 convocation ceremony slated for Friday this week.
Ambali made this disclosure at a press briefing on the 32nd convocation ceremony of the institution, saying the graduating comprises 1,093 postgraduate, 6,069 first degree and 66 diploma students.
The number of students graduating this year, the vice chancellor said, surpasses last year’s figure of 6,710.
The vice chancellor whose tenure will end before next year’s convocation, highlighted the achievements of the school in the last one year, saying the Nigerian Army Highest hierarchy had approvedý a collaborative programme leading to award of a Master of Arts degree in peace and security studies.
“Through the programme, senior officers of the Nigerian Army will be trained at the University of Ilorin in continuation of the training at one of their higher educational institutions. With this, the university is poised to impact more and contribute further to the Nigerian project and we have also received delegation from the Nigeria legislative institute informing us about their readiness to collaborate with us,” Ambali said.
