Godogodo killings: 40 corpses have been identified – SOKAPU Mob hacks 14 herders

The people of Southern Kaduna have accused the state and federal governments of abandoning them, just as they said 40 corpses had been identified following the recent attacks on villages in Godogodo, Jema’a Local Area of Kaduna state.

The Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU) in a statement issued and signed by its president, Barrister Solomon Musa, said that the Southern Kaduna people had been left to be maimed, raped, and killed by their enemies.

It was earlier reported that Godogodo area was attacked on Saturday by suspected herders who killed about 20 people and destroyed properties.

The statement said “Virtually all houses have been burnt in Godogodo. Properties worth hundreds of millions were destroyed while crops have been grazed by cattle and the rest destroyed by the invaders. The savagery of the attack is beyond belief. Yet, governments at the federal and state levels appear quiet and noncommittal.”

Meanwhile, a mob “hacked and burnt” 14 herders to death over the weekend.

“I was returning from Plateau State with eight passengers, all of them Fulani herders,” commercial bus driver Adamu Aliyu told AFP.

Aliyu said his bus broke down in Kaduna state, so he left it to go search for a mechanic.

“While I was away a mob surrounded the vehicle and forcibly brought out the eight passengers. They hacked them to death, dumped them in the vehicle and set it ablaze,” Aliyu said.
