The Plateau State Administrative Secretary for Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Sheikh Abdulaziz Yusuf, has been kidnapped.

He was seized with his driver Wednesday evening near Kaduna as they travelled the Jos-Saminaka-Kaduna route.

Daily Trust gathered that the Sheik’s last phone communication was recorded around 6pm when he mentioned that he was approaching Kaduna city. Plateau State JNI Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sani Mudi yesterday confirmed the incident, saying the kidnappers had made contact and asked that his people prepare to raise a ransom.

Mudi said Sheikh Abdulaziz who is also the JNI Chairman for North East zone was to meet with Sheikh Khalid Aliyu in Kaduna for onward movement to Sokoto Thursday morning on a condolence visit over the death of Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki.

One of the sons of Sheikh Abdulaziz, Muhammad Nasir Abdulaziz, said the vehicle in which the almost 80-year-old Islamic scholar was travelling had been located in Saminaka.

Nasiru said, “Abdullahi’s number had been ringing since yesterday without response but as at this morning (yesterday) someone picked the phone and said he was a security agent and that the phone had been found in a car parked around Saminaka. My younger brother, Barrister Sani has gone to Saminaka to recover the car and involve the police.”
