Town planners elect new executives

Ibrahim Jibril, Director of Administra­tion and Human Resources department in the Nigerian Maritime Administra­tion and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has been elected the president of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria.

At the election held in Abuja during the institute’s Annual General Meeting, Jibril polled 272 votes to defeat outgoing Deputy National President of CILT and former Vice Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education, Professor Kayode Oyesiku who scored 48 votes.

Jibril was until his election the Vice President of CILT Internatio­nal and has over 33 years cognate experience in the transport and logistics industry.

In NIMASA, Jibril has at various times held the positions of Director of Planning Research and Data Management Services department and also headed Human Resources, Public Relations and Maritime Capacity Building Units of the Agency.

He holds a diploma and Profession­al Licence in Aircraft Engineerin­g, a degree in Public Administra­tion and a Masters degree in Internatio­nal Law and Diplomacy. Jibril is currently studying for the award of a Ph.D in Public Policy and Administra­tion.

As an active member of the CILT, Jibril chaired the Local Organising Committee that hosted the CILT Africa Forum in Nigeria. He is credited with facilitati­ng the provision of the current corporate office of the institute by NIMASA.

Jibril is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (FCILT) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM) and holds the highest honourary membership as the Companion of the Nautical Institute, London.

Mr. Jibril who holds the royal title of the Magayakin Zazzau of the Zazzau Emirate Council in Kaduna State is married with children. The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) recently concluded its golden jubilee anniversar­y/ AGM with the election of a new National Executive Committee that will steer the ship of the institute for the next one year.

Those elected are Tpl Luka B. Achi, National President, Tpl Lekwa Ezutah, 1st National Vice President, Tpl Olutoyin Ayinde, 2nd National Vice President and Tpl Osunsanmi Gbolabo as National Secretary.

Other elected officials include Tpl Patrick Nyam, 1st Asst National Secretary, Tpl Ukanwa A. Ugoh, 2nd Asst National Secretary, Tpl (Prince) Effiong Akpan, National Treasurer, Tpl Victoria T. Ajose, National Financial Secretary, Tpl Raymond A. Nde, National Auditor, Tpl Ashiru O. Olugbenga, National Public Relations Secretary and Tpl Sani Daniel as Assistant National Public Relations Secretary.

Tpl Steve I Onu was also elected as Ex-Officio 1, Tpl Ogbodo, Alex.,N., Ex Officio II, Tpl (Dr) Etuk E. Okon(mnitp)Ex Officio III, Tpl Garba Pindar. (fnitp)- Ex Officio IV, while Tpl Adedire M. Adebisi is the Chairman Practice Committee, Tpl Okoye B Ejimofor, Chairman Publicatio­ns Committee, Tpl Okanla I. Salako, Chairman Membership Committee, Tpl Ahmad M. Buhari, Chairman Education and Research Committee with Tpl Shallakuza M. Suleiman as Chairman Ethics & Disciplina­ry Committee.
