Kogi governor backs Buhari in $29.9bn loan
The Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, yesterday called on the National Assembly to approve the $29.9 billion loan proposed by the federal government to help develop infrastructure in the nation.
The governor, who spoke through his spokesman, Kingsley Fanwo, expressed optimism that the loan, when secured, would enable the nation actualise its goal of industrialisation and rapid infrastructural development.
“I am aware that the National Assembly is considering ironing out some grey areas in the deal. This is good for the nation. The president has done what is right by proposing such a facility to rebound the nation’s economy through infrastructural development,” the governor.
He described President Buhari as a man of ‘unquestionable integrity’ and urged Nigerians to have faith in him as he strives to bring about the needed transformation.
“We, therefore, urge the National Assembly to see the facility as one of the ways through which the nation can find its way back to greatness and economic rediscovery,” he added.
The governor urged Nigerians to join hands with the present administration to liberate the country from the effects of corruption which brought the nation on its knees in the past.
Bello also said that with the ongoing efforts to fix the country’s infrastructural deficit and improve power, Nigeria can rise from its present position to that of respectability on the African continent.
