Ortom, Tsav trade words over state affairs
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State and an ex-Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, have traded words over the state affairs.
Ortom had lambasted the expolice senior officer while answering questions from newsmen during an event at the government house in Makurdi, alleging that he supported the theft of N107 billion from the state coffers by the administration of Governor Gabriel Suswam.
The governor also alleged that Tsav was not an indigene of the state and that he should relocate to Kano State where he belonged as the people of Vandeikya (Tsav’s local government) have disowned him.
“Tsav supported the stealing of N107 billion in the state. He was part of the last administration. He supported them. He is not known here (Benue). He is not an indigene of Benue. Vandeikya have denied him, let him go to Kano where he belongs and leave us alone in Benue,” Ortom said.
Tsav, in a swift reaction, said the governor was confused and did not know what to do any longer, describing his remarks as “rubbish talk”.
He said nobody from his clan, district or Vandeikya Local Government Area had disowned him.
Tsav added: “On the N107 billion, let him (Ortom) call the EFCC to come and arrest me if I’m an accomplice. He is using religion to deceive people and suffering from inferiority complex. Ortom is so excited being a governor but does not carry the responsibility that goes with.”
