‘Proposed aviation university to produce aircraft parts’
The Minister of State Aviation, Capt. Hadi Sirika has said the proposed Nigerian Aviation University to be located in Zaria will be equipped to conduct research and produce some aircraft parts in the near future.
The minister disclosed this weekend during an inspection tour of the Nigerian College Of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria.
The minister noted that Brazil began with air craft parts manufacturing and are now able to manufacture their air craft.
The Minister who expressed reservation with the level of development at NCAT since it was established in 1964 said the school should go beyond just manpower development and training to other capabilities.
The minister thus pledged his support to the development of the premier aviation college in west Africa.
He said he had to cancel the proposal that the aviation school be decentralized because it is critical NCAT consolidates its position is the foremost aviation training institution in Africa.
Capt. Sirika however noted that any private investor wishing to establish an aviation training institution in Nigeria will be supported by the federal government.
He also promised that the government will support the school meet all its out said Gary accreditations even as he challenged the Rector to improve the aesthetics of the college and step up publicity of the school.
