FG releases N3bn for FRSC logistics
The Federal Government has so far released over N3 billion for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) logistics, Corps Marshall Boboye Oyeyemi has disclosed.
The FRSC helmsman disclosed this to State House reporters yesterday shortly after Acting President Yemi Osinbajo inaugurated the National Road Safety Advisory Council.
Oyeyemi said: “Since the advent of this administration, it has invested over N3bný on logistics for the corps. Last year witnessed the largest procurement of vehicles and ambulances. And with this, we will start seeing the improvement and personal commitment of top government officials towards enhancing road safety in the country.”
The road safety advisory council, chaired by Osinbajo, comprises the governors of Lagos, Anambra, Delta, Kwara, Gombe and Kaduna States as well as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal and Ministers of Finance, Budget, Information, FCT, Labour and Works, Power and Housing.
Boboye explained that the inauguration of the road safety advisory council was in line with the United Nation’s Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020.
According to him, the council has the responsibility of advising the Federal Executive Council and the National Economic Council on how to improve road safety management in the country.
