Suspect nabbed in Nasarawa over killing of cyclist in Kuje

The Kuje divisional police headquarte­rs has arrested the suspected killer of a 27-year-old commercial cyclist, Isa Aji, at Ara village in Nasarawa State.

City News had reported that the deceased cyclist was called on phone and hacked to death at Kuje township stadium on Friday night, after which his motorcycle was taken away.

A police source with the Kuje division, who preferred anonymity, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, whose name was given as Umar Adamu, and one other person now at large.

He said the suspect was arrested on Tuesday at Ara village in Nasarawa State.

“The suspect, who confessed to the crime, said he sold the motorcycle for N140,000. And we have been able to recover the sum of N130, 000 cash from him, while we are still on the trail of his accomplice,” the source said.

When contacted, the FCT Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Anjuguri Manzah, confirmed the arrest of the suspected killer of the cyclist, adding that the police were on the trail of the other suspect.

“The suspect confessed to the crime and we were able to recover the sum of N130, 000 cash out of N140,000 which he confessed to have sold the motorcycle for at Ara village in Nasarawa State,” he said.

He said the suspect will be transferre­d to the state Criminal Investigat­ion Department (CID) for further interrogat­ion.
