APC panel summons Kwankwaso over Katsina rally
An investigative committee set up by the Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has summoned the immediate past governor of the state, Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, to appear before it on March 3.
A letter of summon dated Feb. 19, signed by the chairman of the committee, Surveyor Muhammad Nadu Yahaya, said Kwankwaso will face the committee at the APC’s state secretariat along Maiduguri road in the state metropolis.
Nadu was Kwankwaso’s former commissioner of lands.
The letter, a copy of which was obtained by Daily Trust, stated that Kwankwaso was expected to explain why his supporters attempted to Yahaya “gate crash” into the Katsina Government House which was venue of the APC’s zonal meeting when the meeting was in progress.
“The committee is inviting Senator Kwankwaso to appear before it to explain why he organized a rally in Katsina State on 29th January, 2017 when the APC leaders were holding zonal meeting in the state.
“Kwankwaso is also expected to defend himself on the discourteous statements he allegedly made against some APC leaders during the rally,” the letter said.
It further said in the event Kwankwaso could not personally appear before it, it had resolved to send its team to meet him at any place and time convenient for him.
The committee was constituted after a video clip showing Kwankwaso addressing a mammoth crowd of his supporters in Katsina went viral on social media.
The team was given two weeks to complete its assignment and report back to the party. The committee chairman has, however said they would seek for two weeks extension to complete their assignment.
