No NSITF compliance certificate, no contract award – PTDF

The Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) has reiterated its commitment to collaborate with the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) to ensure compliance with the Employees’ Compensation Scheme (ECS) in Nigeria.

The assurance was given at an interactive session between the management of both organisations in Abuja.

General Manager, Legal & Secretarial Services, Balarabe Zaharadeen Ahmad, who led the PTDF management in the session expressed satisfaction with NSITF handling of the ECS.

“Being satisfied with how NSITF has handled the ECS so far, we have listed NSITF Compliance Certificate as one of the requirements contractors are expected to produce before being considered for contract award,” he said.

“We are now going to push it a step further by enrolling our staff in the scheme,” he added.

In his submission, Mr Steven Bathana, General Manager, Claims and Compensation, who represented the Acting Managing Director of the NSITF, Mr Ismail Agaka, said the Employees’ Compensation Act is the law which established a Social Insurance Scheme designed to provide compensation to employees who suffer from occupational diseases, injuries or disability from accident at the work place.
