Why I joined APC — Sen Ida
A PDP gubernatorial aspirant in the 2015 election in Katsina State, Sen. Ibrahim Ida, said yesterday that his decision to join the APC was informed by his conviction that the ruling party has the capacity to steer Nigeria to economic development and prosperity.
Ida, who registered at his ward in Katsina town on Saturday, and later paid a visit to Governor Aminu Masari at the Government House in the metropolis, said he was longing for the APC for too long and got fulfilled soon after he defected.
Daily Trust reports that Ida was a former member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), a member of the PDP Caucus and a member of its strategic committee before his cross over to the APC.
He told a mammoth crowd at the government house that the APC had people of proven integrity as exemplified by President Muhammadu Buhari, “Who I know very well and worked with at the formative stage of the defunct PTF.”
Ida, who defected alongside many of his supporters and PDP chieftains in Katsina, said he had a long standing relationship with Masari and pledged to work closely with him for the development of the state and Nigeria.
Masari, in his speech said Sen. Ida was a tested politician and an asset that should be cajoled by any serious political party which stood to gain from his wealth of experience.
