600 golfers for Ikeja Golf Club Captain tourney
Over 600 golfers will take part in the one-week activities of the Captain Day tournament at the Ikeja Golf Club.
The event is an annual event meant to celebrate the achievement of the captain and the committee members of a particular golfing year. The tenure of the present committee ends on March 30.
The captain, Akin Areola said that the all-inclusive activities, which began with the caddies and staff taking to the course, will have veterans and professionals taking to the green.
The Captain’s Kitty will hold today with the competition open to every golfer in the world. The kitty event will be sponsored by Pepsi. The main competition will hold tomorrow and Saturday. Tomorrow, golfers with handicap 19 to 28 will take to the course, while on Saturday players with handicap 1 to 18 will hit the course for their rounds.
The main competition will involve members and players invited from other clubs, while the ladies event will also have invitees from other clubs. Current and former captain of various clubs will take part in the event. All the winners in every category will smile home will various prizes, while the pros will get monetary reward.
Areola also stated that the committee made good their promise when it assumed office by completing the construction the club house, providing competitions allyear round, providing five-star service at the club and ensuring that their caddies become the best in the country.
