Cyclist stabbed, loses motorcycle near Abaji

- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

A 27-year-old commercial cyclist, Bala Ali, has been stabbed and his motorcycle snatched at Zokutu village, near Abaji town.

A witness, Salihu, said the incident happened yesterday morning when the cyclist picked two passengers from Abaji town to Zokutu village.

He said the two suspected motorcycle snatchers, who pretended to be passengers forced the cyclist to stop in a forested area and stabbed him all over his body, before they escaped with his motorcycle.

“Residents of the village who were coming to Abaji town that early morning saw the cyclist in a pool of blood by the roadside and inform the Okada union whose members conveyed the victim to hospital,” he said.

He added that the cyclist became unconscious after he was stabbed and the suspects tied his hands and legs with a rope before they escaped with the motorcycle.

A commercial cyclist, Yahaya Aliyu, said three motorcycles were snatched recently along the road.

Our reporter learnt that the victim bought the motorcycle only a few days before the attack.

When contacted, the Abaji Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP David Kolo, said he was not aware of the incident.

“The place you said the cyclist was attacked is not within my jurisdiction, as that place falls in Rubochi police division,” he said.

The DPO of Rubochi, Karim John, told our reporter on phone that the incident was not reported at the division.

He advised the victim to go to the division and file a report so that an investigation can be carried out.
