Kaduna APC splinter group berates El-Rufai on memo to Buhari

- From Andrew Agbese, Kaduna

A splinter group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, APC Akida, has berated Governor Nasir el- Rufai, for writing a letter to the president.

Leaders of the group said the memo was “disrespectful and arrogant.”

The state chairman of APC Akida, Tom Maiyashi, at a press conference in Kaduna, yesterday, said El-Rufai lacked the moral standing to raise the issues in the memo as his approach to governance was no different from the observations he made in the memo.

The group said since El- Rufai was aware that he wouldn’t have been governor if not for President Buhari, writing such a letter smacked of total disrespect and was discourteous to the president.

The group said El- Rufai governed as one who knew everything, hence should not be in a position to offer advice to someone else, insisting that charity should begin at home.

The splinter group also called on the national working committee (NWC) of the party to ask the Governor Aminu Masari committee that was set up to look into the crisis in the Kaduna APC to submit its report so as to avert problems ahead of 2019.

“Let Masari submit the report to save the state from crisis as the party is being painted in very bad light; we don’t want the problem to linger as it is smearing the image of the party,” it said.
