Plateau United have returned to the summit of the Nigeria Professional Football League following their 4-1 pounding of visiting ABS of Ilorin in their match day 15 match at the Rwang Pan stadium in Jos yesterday.

The pride of Plateau, who were knocked off the top spot last Wednesday by Lagos-based MFM FC left no one in doubt of their resolve to return to the position they held for 12 match days as Joshua Obaje gave them a 20th minute lead.

ABS found themselves back on level terms after Plateau United turned the ball into their own net to make it 1-1. The hosts made sure they regained the advantage as they scored another goal to make it 2-1 before half time.

Plateau United scored two more goals in the second half to end the game 4-1 and gain full three points that has taken their tally to 28 after 15 games.

MFM FC however remained in the second position despite a 1 - 0 loss to host Gombe United, while El-Kanemi Warriors stay in the third position with a 1-0 win over Lobi Stars in Maiduguri.

Former champions Kano Pillars were battered 3-0 by hosts Abia Warriors in Umuahia, while Katsina United were 1 - 0 better than Enugu Rangers.

At the Confluence stadium in Lokoja, hosts Niger Tornadoes beat Sunshine Stars 2 - 1 to amass the three maximum points.

Enyimba FC also continued their recent fine form with a 1 - 0 win over Rivers United FC, while Nasarawa United sent visiting Shooting Stars empty handed with a 1 - 0 win at the Lafia Township stadium.
