Hospital to open telemedicine centres in Abuja
The Saudi German Hospital Dubai said it would soon set up telemedicine centres in Abuja.
A statement by Dr George Davis of the hospital yesterday, said the centres were to develop healthcare system and provide affordable treatments for Nigerians.
It said arrangements were also on towards training medical personnel in the country and partnering with local hospitals and institutions.
The statement said the medical team working in the emergency room of the hospital recently recorded a breakthrough in saving the life of a 40 year old man, who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest, which resulted in total loss of consciousness and complete shutdown of all cardiac functions.
Head of the Emergency Department at the hospital, Dr Sayed Ali stated that the patient was brought to the unconscious and unresponsive, a cardiopulmonary resuscitation was immediately performed on the patient, who was also subjected to multiple electric shocks, resulting in the patient regaining signs of life such as: breathing, clear heartbeats and measurable hospital blood pressure.
“The patient, then, had to be transported to the catheter attack centre. The doctor confirms that this action was taken in less than 90 minutes, which is the golden time window to save a patient’s life; otherwise his/her chances of survival dwindle,” the statement said.
