UN appoints Ladan member of comtt. on environmen­tal crimes

The United Nations Interregio­nal Crime And Justice Research Institute, Italy (UNICRI) in Collaborat­ion with the United Nations Environmen­t Programme (UNEP), Kenya has appointed Professor Mohammed Tawfiq Ladan as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee On Environmen­tal Crimes.

This appointmen­t dated 25th April, 2017 was in recognitio­n of Professor Ladan’s expertise, significan­t commitment and contributi­on to the developmen­t of Environmen­tal Rule of Law and in developing strategies to combat environmen­tal crimes globally.

Prof. M.T. Ladan is a distinguis­hed professor of law at the Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with 30 years of teaching , research and postgradua­te supervisio­n experience . Ladan has over 15 years experience consulting for UN agencies, ECOWAS and federal ministries and agencies in Nigeria. Prof. Ladan served as a member of the UNEP Eminent Legal Experts on the mid-term review on UN Montevideo Programme IV in 2015 and on periodic review of environmen­tal dispute settlement and avoidance in 2006-2007.

Ladan is a member of the ABU Senate, the Governing Board of the National Associatio­n of Law Teachers, World Commission and Academy on Environmen­tal Law and World Jurist Associatio­n. He is also a Hubert Humphrey Fellow, USA, 1999-2000 and happily married with children.
