Only competent coach will rescue Wikki, says Pascal
A former international and member of the newly constituted management of Wikki Tourists football club, Patrick Pascal has said only a competent coach will save the club from relegation.
The government of Bauchi State, sponsor of the club yesterday approved the appointment of a ‘rescue team’ for the club which is presently at the basement of the NPFL table.
A seasoned football administrator, Auwalu Baba Jada has been appointed General Manager of the club with Pascal Patrick as the Adviser.
According to the statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Bello Shehu Ilelah other members of the management committee are Muh’d Bawa, Sadiq Yusuf Zaria, Paul Gambar, Umar Ahmed Ilelah and Abdullahi Ibrahim (Askia) who is to serve as secretary.
In a chat with Daily Trust yesterday, Patrick said with the new General Manager who is versed in the league, rescuing Wikki Tourists is not an impossible task.
He also said what the club needs urgently is a highly competent coach to turn around the dwindling fortunes of the club.
The former 3SC star dropped the hint that the new management’s priority will be to recruit a competent coach and beef up the team with more quality players.
“The constitution of the committee is a step in the right direction. We would do our best to keep Wikki Tourists in the top flight.
“My role is advisory but the General Manager knows the league very well. He should be able to lead the revival of the club.”
