Initiative to stimulate entrepreneurship in tertiary institutions to be launched
A strategic programme geared towards the development of MSMEs in tertiary institution will soon be launched. The initiative which is tagged Tertiary Institutions Entrepreneurship Programme (TINEDEP) will engage students to work in the Entrepreneurship Development Centres (EDCs) as interns in agricultural and vocational enterprises.
In a stakeholders meeting held in the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria(SMEDAN) headquarters in Abuja recently, the National Programme Consultant TINEDEP, Hon. Otokolo Willie-Dan said the focal point of the programme is to enhance the entrepreneurial, technical and administrative competence of students in tertiary institutions.
The strategic economic development plan encourages self reliance, determination, dedication and resilient efforts on job creation, local content development and secondary production through utilisation of raw materials and farm produce.” Otokolo said.
In his goodwill message, the Director General of SMEDAN, Dr Dikko Umaru Radda said TINEDEP is a holistic approach towards entrepreneurship and enterprise development at the tertiary institution.
The objective of TINEDEP he said is to change the mindset of students toward business ownership and management as well as create entrepreneurs that have skills.
