The Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Musa Dikko, has said about N60 million was earmarked for the rehabilitation of boreholes within the council in the 2017 budget.

He said this was part of efforts to bring government closer to the people.

Dikko, who spoke while commissioning a water project at Nunkuchi community near Mpape yesterday, said well-meaning Nigerians should join the council’s bid to make life better for the residents.

He said the borehole, donated by Khadijat Ibrahim Foundation, fulfilled one of his promises to partnering with people to better the lot of residents.

“We did say where we can’t as a government, we will partner with people that love our people and God has answered our prayers,” he said.

He said his administration had only given the residents a sign of what to expect before the end of his tenure, while he urged them not to give up.

A representative of the group, Aliyu Mohammed, said the group would continue in partnering with the council in impacting lives in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The district head of Mpape, Abubakar Ibrahim Gimba, commended the group and council chairman for the water project.

He said with the borehole, residents would not drink from the stream anymore.

“We have never experienced anything like this, with this step I believe all our issues would be looked into if not 100 per cent he will do some,” he said.
