Buhari group distances self from national c’ttee

- By Abbas Jimoh

The Buhari Support Organization (BSO) has disassociated itself from the activities of another association, the National Committee of Buhari Support Groups (NCBSG).

Umar Shuaibu, who is the National Chairman of BSO State Coordinators Forum, in a statement yesterday said it became necessary to clear the air that NCBSG was different from BSO.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari’s struggle over the years before the 2015 election had its associated experience, hence the need to set up BSO which ensured that votes meant for Buhari were safeguarded.

Our correspondent reports that Senator Abu Ibrahim (APC, Katsina South) is the Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman of the NCBSG, and had recently said their aim was to bring together, nearly 190 different groups that supported President Buhari’s ascension to power.

But Shuaibu said they were not in tune with what the national committee wanted to achieve.

“The BSO observed that the constituency of the promoters of the NCBSG is the National Assembly, where PMB’s Change Agenda is being frustrated.

“If it is true that the association’s objectives are centred on supporting President Buhari, the actions of the promoters, who are mainly senators, must reflect in their support for the bills and requests sent by President Buhari to the National Assembly.”
