Plateau United didn’t struggle to beat Remo Stars – Obaje

- By David Ngobua

Plateau United striker Joshua Obaje has said even as it was a slim 1-0 victory against Remo Stars On Sunday in their week 21 encounter in Jos, they did not struggle to beat the relegation threatened club.

In a chat with Daily Trust yesterday, the former Heartland striker said Plateau United dominated the match as they created so many chances in both halves of the match.

He said it was rather unfortunate that they failed to convert the numerous chances that they created.

“It’s not that we struggled to beat Remo Stars. Without being disrespectful I want to say that we dominated them in the match.

“We created so many scoring chances but failed to convert them into goals. This is just the reason it would appear as if they were difficult to beat. We didn’t struggle to beat them at all,” he said.

Obaje also said it does not matter that the scoreline was low as he said what matters the most is that the 1-0 gave Plateau United the maximum points.

He said the second stanza is not about who played well but who earned the points at stake.

“I also want to say we are very satisfied with the result of the match. What matters to us the most is the three points.

“This is the final lap of the league and there is nothing that we need more than victory. If half a goal will give us the maximum points, we won’t mind,” he stated.
