Monarch canvasses gubernator­ial seat for Nasarawa North

The Chun Mada of Mada Kingdom in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa state, Chief Samson Gamu-Yare, has charged Mada youths to unite and work hard to ensure that Nasarawa North Senatorial zone produces the next governor of the state.

Governor Umaru Al-Makura will complete his two terms of an eightyear tenure in 2019.

The traditiona­l ruler said Monday in Akwanga while receiving members of the Youth Wing of the Mada Developmen­t Associatio­n (MDA) who visited him that in the quest to produce the next governor which had eluded the zone since the creation of the state in 1996, all sons and daughters of the zone must speak with one voice on election day.

“We have an agenda to secure the gubernator­ial election victory for Nasarawa North senatorial zone come 2019. So we must be resolute, united and focused on that set objective,” he said.

He warned that there would be no more room for procrastin­ation, political bickering and political apathy hence the need for all indigenes of Nasarawa North especially the youths to be politicall­y active with the agenda in mind and keep off crisis that will scuttle the ambition.

The MDA Youth Wing had come to intimate the traditiona­l ruler of the election of its new execos, which they said ended peacefully at midnight on Saturday with Mr John Kyuni becoming president; Mrs Mero Musa, vice president and Mr Anda Stephen, secretary general.

In his acceptance speech shortly after the victory, Kyuni thanked Mada youths for finding them worthy of the respective positions, and gave assurance that the wing would pursue the agenda of making a Nasarawa North Senatorial zone person the governor come 2019.
