18 illegal Togo, Benin Republic immigrants arrested
Some 18 illegal migrants from neighbouring Togo and Benin Republic have been arrested by the operatives of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
The illegal migrants, 10 from Benin and eight from Togo, were arrested last Thursday, at Akeere village, near Kajola Estate in Bode Olude, Elega area of Abeokuta North local government area of the state, according to the state Immigration Comptroller, Ajibola Bayeroju, who said the arrests were part of moves to check the influx of illegal aliens.
Bayeroju who said the state command embarked on the raid following an intelligence report, added that the immigrants would be profiled and repatriated.
