I’ve no plan to change my deputy- El-Rufai

- From Andrew Agbese, Kaduna

Governor Nasir El- Rufai of Kaduna State has disowned a widely circulated document alleging plots to replace his deputy, Barnabas Yusuf Bala (Bamtex) with Alhaji Lawal Samaila Yakawada.

The governor described as despicable fiction , the minutes of the ‘Emergency Meeting of the Strategic Committee on Political Developments in Kaduna State,’ which is circulating on social media, purported to be the minutes of a meeting chaired by the governor and attended by some key officials of his government.

A statement by his spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, said the aim of the ‘fabricated minutes is to stoke division along the lines of region and religion. He said, “This fake news is clearly the handwork of desperados unhappy at the successes achieved in stabilizing southern Kaduna and restoring the normalcy that ordinary citizens need to build their lives.”

He said the fake minutes was riddled with falsehood which included allegations that the government had indicted some notable persons following findings of a Judicial Commission of Inquiry and the need to implement recommendations of the Commission as it concerned the said personalities.

He said the purported meeting never took place; therefore the entire contents of the purported minutes ‘are a mindless fabrication,’ adding that no Judicial Commission of Inquiry on the security challenges in southern Kaduna had been set up hence the issue of indicting some notable persons by a Judicial Commission of Inquiry was entirely false.
