Why Musa, Koko are in D’Tigers’ AfroBasket team – NBBF
@shagcy The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) says its decision to include youngsters Usman Musa and Anthony Koko in the D’Tigers’ squad to the FIBA Men’s AfroBasket in Tunisia is to prepare the duo for subsequent engagements.
The NBBF secretarygeneral, Chimezie Asiegbu, who disclosed this on Tuesday while unveiling the 12 players picked by the federation for the D’Tigers’ defence, said the two players have the potentials of becoming great stars in future.
Asiegbu, who disclosed that the team was in high spirits going into the tournament, added that the two players would watch the team throughout the campaign in Tunisia.
“This will help in preparing the two players for subsequent engagements,” he said.
On the 12-man list, Asiegbu said, “The 12-man team expected to defend the nation’s glory at the 2017 Men’s AfroBasket is made up of eight foreignbased and four homebased players.
“They have been in camp and are expected to work together in the interest of the nation,” he said.
He listed the players to include Dike Azouma, Akinlolu Akingbala, Etim Akakume, Olivier Anuna, Ayodeji Akindele and Diogu Ike.
“The rest are Ikenna Ireogbu, Bryant Mbamalu, Ikechukwu Nwamu, Ochefu Daniel, Abayomi Odunsi and Yahaya Abdul,” he said.
