APC chieftain promises to pay indigent students’ WAEC fees
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the FCT, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Ahmad, has said that arrangements are on to pay the West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees of some indigent secondary school students across the four area councils of Abuja South Federal Constituency.
Ahmad stated this while presenting 250 copies of exercise books to the principal of Junior Secondary School (JSS) Gwagwalada on Saturday.
He said the move was targeted mostly at the less privileged that were studying at public schools across the four area councils to encourage them acquire education.
He said he had already directed principals of public schools in Abuja south to compile the names of all the less privileged senior secondary students so that when time for registration of WAEC approached, he would foot their bills.
He said the gesture was part of his educational revolution in Abuja south constituency, adding that 80 per cent of public schools in the constituency have less privileged students, who are brilliant but found it difficult to pay their school fees and WAEC fees.
Also speaking, the principal of JSS Gwagwalada, Malam Waziri D. Ali, commended the party chieftain for donating exercise books to secondary schools across the four area councils.
He said the gesture was a stepping stone, and called on other top politicians in the FCT and philanthropists to emulate the APC chieftain.
