- By Francis Arinze Iloani

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has said that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are on its priority list as the 12th Abuja International Trade Fair opens tomorrow.

Speaking yesterday in Abuja, the chamber’s Director of Membership and Business Development, Mrs. Tonia Shoyele, said agro-allied products, mineral resources and solar solutions are among the top products expected for exhibition.

Shoyele said the fair has been designed to bring manufacturers and buyers together to network through innovative series of B2B (manufacturers to buyers) meetings.

The chamber’s Senior Manager of Trade Facilitation, Olorunmaiye Jonathan Olawale, said the fair has been designed to further the diversification efforts of the Federal Government, including emphasis on SMEs.

“We want to exhibit what SMEs are doing in the economy and to promote the non-oil sector,” he said.

Olawale revealed that the fair has so far attracted the attention of the international community as exhibitors are coming from over 30 countries, including Pakistan, Mali and Turkey and these are aside the local exhibitors coming from across the 36 states of the country and the FCT.

He said the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has been invited to help sensitise the SMEs on how to package their products for export as part of government’s focus on non-oil exports.
